  Remarks:
  • The total surface-atmosphere flux is given by the sum of the 4 flux variables (i.e., there is no double counting among these 4 variables).
    However, co2flux_excl is only relevant if the atmospheric response (change in atmospheric CO2 concentration relative to the initial condition) is considered (e.g., for a forward run of an atmospheric transport model).
  • The flux record of any time step denotes the surface exchange between the time of this record and the time of the next record.
  • The NetCDF file contains the full time period of the inversion, comprising not only the period of validity, but also spin-up and spin-down years to be discarded for most applications.
  • Converting flux units:
