The GASIR (German
Association for Stable
Isotope Research) Annual Meeting 2005 was held at the Max-Planck
Institute
for Biogeochemistry (MPI-BGC)in Jena, Germany.
The focus of the meeting has been on analysis and application of stable
isotopes in various
fields of research. The congress was intended to bring
together researchers and students
interested in this art.
A special emphasis has also been to
provide a
forum to newcomers in the field. The
meeting was bilingual, contributions were accepted either in German or
in
English.
The meeting started Monday, October 10, and was adjourned Wednesday,
October 12. Most of the presentations at the meeting can be downloaded
using the link further down.
Directly following the GASIR
meeting a small workshop on data evaluation was held, providing the
opportunity to discuss and exchange
ideas
on data processing after mass spectrometric measurement and for
expressing
the results on the respective international stable isotope scales. The
workshop was held in a relaxed atmosphere and it was received as a good
start for a continued exchange of such topics in future GASIR meetings.
The next meeting will be
held in October 2006 in Freiberg (Saxony). It will be organized by
Marion Tichomirowa (tichomir@mineral.tu-freiberg.de)
