Gas Analysis (GasLab)
Analysis of trace gas ratios in air samples
A significant part of research at the Max Planck Institute for Biogeochemistry is based on the investigation of greenhouse gas concentrations in air samples. The BGC-GasLab performs such trace gas measurements and thus also contributes to the global atmospheric observation network for biogeochemically relevant species. This task includes two main areas:
- Flask laboratory: Measuring the composition of air samples taken at atmospheric observation stations or experimental study sites.
- Calibration laboratory: Production and calibration of reference gases for continuous measurements at monitoring stations
